The University of Ghana branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG-UG) has given government until Friday, October 16, to pay its members’ outstanding 2026 Book and Research Allowance or face an industrial action from October 19.
In a notice issued on Friday, October 9, and addressed to the National Labour Commission, the association said the delay in payment violated a 2020 Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the government, which requires the allowance to be paid by the end of August each year.
UTAG-UG said its members would withdraw teaching and related services from Monday, October 19, if the outstanding payments were not made by the deadline.
The notice was signed by the branch President, Dr Jerry Joe Harrison, and Secretary, Godfred Bright Hagan.
