Ghanaian rapper-turned-minister Yaw Siki has publicly rejected royalties from his former hit song, Wope Dodo, describing the track as “unholy” and stating that he no longer wishes to benefit financially from it.

Yaw Siki, who was once a prominent figure in Ghana’s hiplife scene, explained that his decision is grounded in his Christian faith and his full transition into ministry. According to him, continuing to receive income from the song would contradict the values and spiritual path he now upholds.

The musician, who stepped away from secular music several years ago after embracing Christianity, said he has completely disassociated himself from that phase of his life. In addition to rejecting royalties, he also made it clear that he will not accept any performance bookings or public appearances linked to the song.

“Wope Dodo” was widely popular at the height of Yaw Siki’s music career, earning significant airplay and establishing him as one of the notable young voices in Ghanaian music at the time. However, following a life-changing period that led to his conversion, he redirected his focus toward preaching and faith-based work.

His latest remarks reaffirm his commitment to ministry and his decision to leave secular entertainment behind. While the announcement has sparked varied reactions among fans and observers—some applauding his consistency and others questioning the move—Yaw Siki appears resolute in his stance. For him, the shift from music to ministry represents more than a career change; it is a complete transformation of purpose and identity.
