Silver Ferns Defeat Jamaica 56–48 to Win Commonwealth Netball Gold

Team New Zealand are Commonwealth Games netball champions after producing a commanding performance to defeat Jamaica 56–48 in the gold medal match at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The Silver Ferns delivered a composed display on both ends of the court, combining clinical shooting with disciplined defending to secure the coveted gold medal. New Zealand converted 56 of their 63 goal attempts, finishing with an impressive shooting accuracy of nearly 89 percent.

Jamaica fought hard throughout the contest, converting all 48 of their goal attempts to finish with a perfect shooting percentage. However, the Sunshine Girls were limited to fewer scoring opportunities as New Zealand's defensive pressure and control of possession proved decisive.

New Zealand also held the edge in key areas of the game, recording 60 contact penalties, 12 obstruction penalties, nine goal assists, and six interceptions, reflecting their dominance in both attack and defence.

The victory sees the Silver Ferns reclaim the Commonwealth Games netball crown, adding another prestigious title to the nation's rich history in the sport. The triumph sparked jubilant celebrations among the players and travelling supporters, capping off an outstanding tournament campaign.
