President Mahama Arrives in Zambia for Three-Day State Visit

President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, for a three-day state visit at the invitation of his Zambian counterpart, President Hakainde Hichilema.

The President was received on arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by President Hichilema. Also present at the airport to welcome him were Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Her Excellency Elizabeth Nyantakyi, along with other senior officials from both countries.

President Mahama is accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, and a high-level delegation of government officials. During the visit, the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks on issues of mutual interest, including the strengthening of diplomatic relations, the enhancement of trade and investment cooperation, and the exploration of collaborative opportunities within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

As part of the official programme, President Mahama is also scheduled to lay a wreath at Embassy Park in Lusaka in honour of Zambia’s fallen heroes, a gesture that reflects the shared values and historical bonds between Ghana and Zambia.

Members of the President’s delegation include the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama; the Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to the President, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari; the Legal Counsel to the President, Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew; and the Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Stan Xoese Dogbe.

Other officials accompanying the President are the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP); Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu (MP); Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP); Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George (MP); and the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey (MP).

The visit is expected to further deepen bilateral relations between Ghana and Zambia and advance cooperation in key areas of development.
