The Ghana Police Service has provided an update on the domestic abuse case involving Ghanaian model and actress Nana Akua Addo and her husband, Harold Norman.

According to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Nana Akua Addo petitioned the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.

The Police said preliminary investigations revealed that a previous case involving the couple had been handled by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.

Following the petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations. He later gave a caution statement and was granted Police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29.

The Police said Norman was scheduled to appear before court on October 7, 2026. However, his lawyer informed the Police that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to appear.

DOVVSU investigators have since visited the hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation. The Police said Norman will be arraigned immediately after his discharge.

The CID also said it is working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that social welfare services are provided for Nana Akua Addo and the children.

The Police statement follows the circulation of a viral video relating to the alleged domestic abuse involving Nana Akua Addo.

The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before the Service are investigated professionally and fairly.
