Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has responded to criticism over his decision to allow content creators to film and share behind-the-scenes footage from his upcoming international movie, Journey to Africa.

Some social media users have questioned why content creators have been given access to the set to capture moments from the production, with some criticizing the decision. Responding to the concerns, Lil Win challenged those who are unhappy with the approach to use their own money to produce a movie and document the process themselves.

“Those criticizing me can also use their money to shoot a movie and keep the behind the scenes. Ge rara here 😂,” Lil Win said.

The actor is currently working on Journey to Africa through his production company, Weezy Empire. The project features a star-studded cast of Ghanaian and Nigerian actors, including Patience Ozokwor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Mike Ezuruonye, Destiny Etiko, Charles Awurum and Zubby Michael.

Lil Win has personally welcomed some of the Nollywood stars upon their arrival in Ghana, as production continues at various locations. Filming has taken place at the Accra International Airport and in the historic Nzulezu village in the Western Region, where scenes have been shot around the community’s wooden platforms and stilt houses.

The movie seeks to promote African culture, strengthen collaboration between the Ghanaian and Nigerian film industries, and showcase Ghanaian heritage to an international audience. Lil Win’s response has since sparked further conversations online about the role of behind-the-scenes content in promoting movies and whether giving content creators access to film productions can help generate publicity ahead of a movie’s release.
