Ghana's Botsyo Finishes Eighth in Men’s 1500m T54 Final at Glasgow 2026

Ghana’s Nkegbe Botsyo wrapped up his Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games campaign with an eighth-place finish in the Men’s 1500m T54 wheelchair final.

Competing against some of the Commonwealth’s strongest wheelchair racers, Botsyo crossed the line in a season’s best of 3:48.41, finishing eighth in the final. Although he ended at the back of the field, the race marked another appearance for Ghana in the para-athletics programme on one of the Games’ biggest stages.

The gold medal went to England’s Nathan Maguire, who won in 3:17.65, ahead of compatriot Daniel Sidbury (3:18.31), while Australia’s Sam Rizzo claimed bronze in 3:18.61.

His participation adds to Team Ghana’s growing presence across both athletics and para-athletics at Glasgow 2026, as the nation continues to build experience against the Commonwealth’s best.
