The medal breakdown for Friday includes 10 gold medals in Athletics and Para Athletics, seven in Track Cycling and Para Track Cycling, and five in Judo.

Judo Makes Glasgow 2026 Debut:

The SEC Centre welcomes Judo to the Commonwealth Games programme, with five gold medals to be decided on the opening day of competition. Some of the sport’s biggest names are expected to make their mark on the mat, including Canada’s Heidi Quach, Australia’s Tinka Easton, England’s Acelya Toprak, Australia’s Josh Katz and Cyprus’ Petros Christodoulides. Athletes will look to produce the perfect ippon, the highest-scoring move in Judo, as they chase Commonwealth glory.

World-Class Cycling Battles at the Velodrome:

The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome is set for another day of high-speed drama, featuring some of the biggest names in track cycling. Trinidad and Tobago’s Nicholas Paul, a triple Birmingham 2022 medallist, returns to defend his Men’s Keirin title, while the Women’s Sprint promises a star-studded contest.

New Zealand’s Ellesse Andrews, who claimed three gold medals and one silver at Birmingham 2022, leads a strong field that includes England’s Sophie Capewell, Katy Marchant and Welsh sprint sensation Emma Finucane. Scotland’s Para Cycling hopes will also be on display, with Neah Evans competing in the Women’s 10km Scratch and Fin Graham taking part in the Men’s C1-3 1000m Time Trial Final.

Chopra and Nadeem Renew Javelin Rivalry:

One of the most anticipated moments of the day comes in the Athletics stadium, where India’s Neeraj Chopra and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem renew one of sport’s biggest rivalries. The two global javelin stars have produced memorable battles in recent years, with Chopra claiming Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 while Nadeem stunned the world by winning gold at Paris 2024. Nadeem arrives in Glasgow as defending champion, while Chopra will be aiming to add another Commonwealth title to his remarkable career.

Athletics Finals Bring More Drama:
