Ghana to Regulate Emerging Technologies with New Bill

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has announced plans to introduce the Emerging Technologies Bill to Parliament in 2026. The proposed legislation will provide a framework for regulating and promoting the use of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence(Al), blockchain, and others in the country.


According to the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, the bill is part of the government's efforts to harness the benefits of emerging technologies while ensuring their
safe and responsible use. The Minister Hon Sam George highlighted the National Al Strategy, which aims to promote ethical Al use, develop digital infrastructure, and support startups in the emerging tech space.


The proposed bill is expected to provide clarity and certainty for businesses, investors, and citizens, and will help to create a conducive environment for the growth of emerging technologies in Ghana.
