Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has issued a passionate rallying call to Ghana's players, warning that talent alone will not be enough to make an impression at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and challenging the squad to embrace sacrifice, humility and total commitment as the tournament draws near.
With fewer than 25 days remaining before Ghana's opening Group L fixture against Panama in Toronto on June 17, the Portuguese coach delivered a pointed message to his players as preparations reach a critical phase ahead of the tournament co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
"The world will only respect us when our commitment, humility, sacrifice, and mentality are bigger than our talent," Queiroz said in a message shared by the Ghana Football Association, accompanied by a countdown marking 30 days to the team's first match.
The veteran coach made clear that legacy is built not on reputation but on readiness to endure. "Great national teams are not built by words, but by players willing to suffer, fight, and give everything for the badge and for the dreams of their fans," he stated.
Queiroz also stressed the importance of total focus in training, insisting that every detail of preparation now carries weight. "Every training session, every duel, every sprint and pass, every small detail matters now. To be present, to participate, will not be enough our mission is to elevate the reputation, pride, and prestige of Ghana football to a level never seen before."
Ghana, making their fifth appearance at a FIFA World Cup, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. Following the opener against Panama in Toronto, the Black Stars will take on Croatia in Philadelphia before facing England in Boston in what promises to be the group's most high-profile fixture.
Queiroz closed his message with a call for unity, saying "impossible missions become history" when teams are fully committed to a common cause. "The Black Stars shirt must stand on a higher podium of honour, respect, and greatness," he added. "Time to sacrifice, time to deliver."
