Fire Service: Poor and slippery road conditions caused tanker accident on the Anyinam–Nkawkaw Highway

The Ghana National Fire Service has said that the Anyinam Fire Station responded to a tanker accident at Enyiresi on the Anyinam–Nkawkaw Highway on Tuesday, 19th May 2026, at about 3PM.


A seven-member crew led by ASTNO Acheampong Alexander was dispatched at 1510hrs and arrived at the scene at 1530hrs.


The team said it found a MAN diesel tanker, registration number AS-9631-10, carrying 56,000 litres of diesel overturned by the roadside near a bush.

A search and rescue operation confirmed no casualties were trapped or injured.


A statement posted on ist Facebook said that "Preliminary investigations indicated the accident was caused by poor and slippery road conditions due to ongoing construction, loose gravel, mud from rainfall, and wet weather, which reduced tyre grip and control. "

The tanker sustained partial damage to its head estimated at GHC 50,000.00, with a salvage value of GHC 300,000.00.
