The spirit of community service and public health was on full display in Cape Coast South as Hon. Eunice Naaman Aba Dery, Member of Parliament for the constituency in the Youth Model Parliament (YMP), successfully organized a large-scale cleanup and free health screening exercise for residents.
The event attracted scores of community members, youth volunteers, health professionals, and local stakeholders who came together with a shared purpose of promoting a cleaner environment and healthier population. From the early hours of the day, participants embarked on an extensive cleanup exercise, clearing drains, collecting refuse, and improving sanitation in key parts of the constituency.
The initiative demonstrated the growing commitment of residents to environmental responsibility while reinforcing the importance of collective action in creating cleaner and safer communities.
Following the cleanup exercise, residents were offered free health screening services, giving many the opportunity to check their blood pressure, blood sugar levels, body mass index, and overall health condition. Healthcare professionals were also on hand to provide advice on healthy living and preventive healthcare practices.
The exercise was met with overwhelming appreciation from residents, many of whom described it as both impactful and timely. Participants praised Hon. Eunice Naaman Aba Dery for championing an initiative that addressed two critical aspects of community development: environmental sanitation and public health.
Beyond the immediate benefits, the event served as a powerful reminder that community transformation begins with individual and collective responsibility. It also highlighted the importance of proactive healthcare and environmental stewardship in improving the quality of life for residents.
TW Radio proudly provided digital coverage of the event, capturing the inspiring scenes of residents, volunteers, and health workers working together to make a positive difference. The successful exercise stands as a testament to what can be achieved through visionary leadership, active citizen participation, and a shared commitment to community progress.
As Cape Coast South continues to pursue sustainable development, initiatives such as this reinforce the belief that a healthier and cleaner community is the foundation for a brighter future.
