Pedu M.A “B” Basic School has emerged as the ultimate champion of the maiden edition of Climate Olympics Ghana after a thrilling grand finale held in Cape Coast.
Organized by Banyani, the 1st Edition of Climate Olympics Ghana brought together 16 basic schools from across the Cape Coast metropolis. The competition, which began with rigorous preliminary rounds, tested students in areas of climate change, sustainability, environmental protection, and youth-led solutions to global environmental challenges.
The road to the finals was marked by intense debates, critical thinking exercises, teamwork, and confident presentations, as participating schools demonstrated impressive knowledge of climate science and environmental stewardship.
After a highly competitive final round, the winners were announced as follows:
1st Place: Pedu M.A “B” Basic School
2nd Place: Apewosika M.A Basic School
3rd Place: Flowers Gay Schools
4th Place: Cornelia Connelly School of the Holy Child Jesus
Pedu M.A “B” Basic School distinguished itself throughout the competition with remarkable consistency, confidence, and a strong command of sustainability concepts. Their performance in the final round secured them the gold medal and the prestigious title of Climate Olympics Ghana Champions.
The event was organized in collaboration with key partners including Emperiks Research, GreenLead, Missmanana Kids, Rescue Mission International, UNIYA, and the Ghana Education Service. Their collective support played a significant role in the success of the initiative.
Beyond the awards, the competition highlighted the growing awareness and commitment of young people to environmental action. All 16 participating schools displayed resilience, passion, and a deep understanding of climate issues affecting their communities and the world at large.
The Climate Olympics Ghana serves as an innovative platform designed to nurture youth leadership, deepen environmental literacy, and empower young people to take meaningful action within their schools and communities.
Banyani expressed appreciation to all participating schools, partners, and stakeholders for their dedication to promoting climate education and action.
