Accra set to host Africa Armwrestling Championship in May

Ghana’s capital, Accra, is gearing up to host the upcoming Africa Armwrestling Championship, with just days to the highly anticipated competition.

The event is scheduled to take place on May 1 and 2, 2026, at Borteyman Sports Stadium, and is expected to draw participants and spectators from across the continent.

Organisers say preparations are at an advanced stage as Ghana positions itself as a key hub for armwrestling in Africa.

The championship is anticipated to showcase top talents in the sport while promoting unity and competition among participating nations.

Accra, widely regarded as the “Gateway to Africa,” is expected to offer visiting athletes and officials a blend of warm hospitality and vibrant cultural experiences during the event.

 

The championship is also seen as an opportunity to further elevate the profile of armwrestling in Ghana and across the continent, while boosting sports tourism and international engagement.
