The Visit Cape Coast Initiative has successfully commissioned the refurbished Etuaful Hall at the Emitsimadze Palace in Cape Coast, marking another significant milestone in the movement’s commitment to preserving heritage, strengthening traditional institutions, and advancing tourism-led development in Oguaa.

The commissioning ceremony brought together traditional leaders, members of the Visit Cape Coast Initiative, invited guests, and community stakeholders to celebrate the completion of the project, which forms part of the initiative’s broader vision of investing in institutions that preserve the cultural identity and governance structures of Cape Coast.

The refurbishment transformed the palace’s arbitration hall into a modern and more functional facility through extensive renovation works, including a fresh interior finish, upgraded electrical installations, the installation of a new air-conditioning unit and ceiling fans, replacement of the existing windows with modern glass fittings, and other improvements designed to provide a more dignified environment for traditional arbitration, mediation, and official palace engagements.

In recognition of the support and contribution towards the refurbishment project and the continued commitment to the development of Cape Coast, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area officially named the refurbished facility Etuaful Hall during the commissioning ceremony.

Speaking at the event, representatives of the Visit Cape Coast Initiative reaffirmed that the movement is about more than promoting Cape Coast as a tourism destination. They noted that sustainable tourism begins with preserving the city’s heritage, strengthening its institutions, and creating environments that reflect the dignity and significance of Oguaa’s rich cultural history.

The initiative explained that tourism development should not only focus on attracting visitors but also on investing in the places and institutions that tell the story of Cape Coast. By supporting projects such as the refurbishment of Etuaful Hall, Visit Cape Coast seeks to demonstrate how partnerships between traditional authorities, the private sector, and the wider community can contribute to preserving heritage while creating long-term value for residents and visitors alike.

The commissioning of Etuaful Hall represents another practical expression of the Visit Cape Coast Initiative’s mission to celebrate the people, culture, traditions, and history of Oguaa while positioning Cape Coast as a leading heritage and tourism destination.

As the initiative continues to grow, it remains committed to implementing projects that preserve the city’s identity, enhance visitor experiences, and encourage collective ownership of Cape Coast’s future.
