Gold Fields unveiled as new headline sponsor of Ghana Women's Premier League

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has secured a major commercial boost for women's football after announcing Gold Fields Ghana Limited as the new headline sponsor of the Ghana Women's Premier League.

The agreement marks a new chapter for the top-flight women's competition, with Gold Fields replacing Malta Guinness following the expiry of its sponsorship deal. The partnership is expected to inject fresh investment into the Women's Premier League as the GFA continues its drive to improve the competition's profile, competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

In a statement, the Football Association described the agreement as a significant milestone in its efforts to strengthen women's football through strategic partnerships. "The partnership represents a significant investment in the women's game and underscores the GFA's unwavering commitment to strengthening the Women's Premier League through strategic collaborations that enhance its competitiveness, visibility and long-term sustainability," the statement read.

The GFA also thanked Gold Fields Ghana Limited for backing the development of women's football and welcomed the mining company into the Ghana football family. The sponsorship comes at a time when women's football in Ghana continues to gather momentum. 

The Black Queens are preparing for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, while the Black Maidens recently booked their place at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after defeating Senegal in the final qualifying round. The Football Association said further details on the sponsorship package, the league's new identity and branding, as well as implementation plans, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The deal is expected to provide renewed financial support for clubs and help further raise the profile of the Ghana Women's Premier League as the GFA seeks to accelerate the growth of the women's game.
