Sports and Tourism Align: SWAG Volta/Oti Pays Courtesy Call to GTA Director

In a strategic move to blend sports promotion with regional development, the Volta and Oti Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has held a high-level meeting with the Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mrs. Roberta Okine-Fumador.

The delegation, led by Regional Chairman Eric Eli Adzie and Secretary Tilda Elinam Acorlor, visited the GTA office in Ho to discuss collaborative efforts to market the unique tourism potential of the two regions through sports journalism.

Key Focus Areas of the Meeting

  • Sports Tourism Promotion: Leveraging sporting events to attract visitors to the Volta and Oti regions, highlighting sites such as the Adaklu Mountain and various water bodies.
  • Media Collaboration: Creating a synergy where sports writers act as brand ambassadors for the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
  • Talent and Investment: Discussing how sports can serve as an economic driver for the local community, aligning with the GTA's vision of making the Volta Region an economic powerhouse.

Mrs. Roberta Okine-Fumador expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that sports and tourism are inseparable tools for regional marketing. By working with SWAG, the GTA aims to increase the visibility of local attractions to both domestic and international audiences.

The SWAG leadership reaffirmed its commitment to not only reporting on scores and matches but also telling the stories of the people and places that make the Volta and Oti regions a premier destination in Ghana.
