President John Dramani Mahama has met with officials of the Boeing Group as Ghana advances plans to re-establish a national airline. The meeting focused on the progress of the proposed airline project, with preliminary studies confirming its viability.

Following the discussions, a roadmap for establishing the new airline was agreed upon. The process will involve identifying a strategic airline partner and a technical partner, acquiring an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), selecting an appropriate fleet and determining financing arrangements.

The Boeing team assured President Mahama of its continued support throughout the establishment and operational phases of the proposed airline. The initiative is expected to improve the utilisation of Ghana’s upgraded airport infrastructure and support the President’s vision of positioning Accra as the leading aviation hub in West Africa.

Beyond strengthening the country's aviation sector, the proposed national airline is also expected to create thousands of employment opportunities for pilots, cabin crew, aeronautical engineers and aviation management professionals.

The re-establishment of a national airline forms part of efforts to expand Ghana’s aviation industry, improve connectivity and strengthen the country's position in the regional and international air transport market.
