Sammo Senior High School Hosts Homecoming Celebration

Sammo Senior High School in Cape Coast has brought together members of its school community for its Homecoming Celebration, an occasion dedicated to reconnecting past and present students, celebrating the institution’s journey, and strengthening the bonds that unite its alumni.

The celebration, held on Friday, October 30, 2026, provided an opportunity for alumni, current students, teachers and other stakeholders to reunite, share experiences and reflect on the school’s contribution to education and personal development over the years.

A look into the history of Sammo Senior High School

The story of Sammo Senior High School dates back to September 1997, when its founder, Mr. Sammy Otoo, established the first Sammo High School campus at Bakaano in Cape Coast.

The establishment of the institution was inspired by the founder’s passion for education and his desire to provide quality secondary education to young people, particularly brilliant but needy students and those seeking opportunities to further their academic development.

At the time, concerns about the availability of qualified teachers and access to quality education influenced the vision behind the establishment of the school.

With a commitment to providing an enabling environment for learning, the institution gradually developed and attracted students from different backgrounds.

In September 2003/2004, the school expanded its operations with the establishment of another campus at Yamoransa, near Cape Coast. This expansion marked another significant stage in the institution’s development, providing additional opportunities and facilities to accommodate its growing student population.

Over the years, Sammo Senior High School has provided educational opportunities across various academic programmes, including General Arts, Business, Visual Arts, Home Economics and General Science.

Guided by its motto, “Excellent Education, Key to Excellent Life,” the institution has continued to emphasize academic excellence, discipline, character formation and the holistic development of students.
