Young people in Cape Coast have received practical training in news writing, interviewing and public speaking as part of Week 2 of the ongoing Youth Media Lab, hosted by the Cape Coast YEC in partnership with TW Radio 88.9.

The training focused on developing essential journalism and communication skills to help participants understand the media landscape and improve their ability to gather, verify and present information effectively.

The first session, on Basic News Writing, was facilitated by Mr. Richard Osei Yeboah. Participants were introduced to the 5Ws and 1H  who, what, when, where, why and how  as key principles for gathering information and producing clear, accurate and informative news stories.

The second session focused on Interviewing and Public Speaking, facilitated by Mr. George Kobina Edah. The session covered preparing effective interview questions, conducting interviews and communicating confidently in different settings.

The two sessions provided participants with practical knowledge and skills relevant to journalism, broadcasting and digital communication, while encouraging them to develop confidence in gathering and sharing information.

The Youth Media Lab is a practical training programme designed to equip young people with essential competencies in media literacy, journalism, digital storytelling and broadcasting.

Through the initiative, the organisers aim to help participants better understand the modern media environment and develop skills that can support their future involvement in media and communication.

The programme continues to provide a platform for young people to explore media practice and build a foundation for responsible and effective storytelling.
