President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday afternoon visited two Ghanaian survivors of Saturday’s terrorist attack in Burkina Faso who are currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The victims were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders travelling on a truck through northern Burkina Faso when armed bandits ambushed them. The attack resulted in the tragic death of seven other Ghanaian traders. The deceased have since been buried.

President Mahama, who was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, expressed his condolences to the injured traders and their families. He assured the survivors that the government would fully cover their medical expenses and provide the necessary support to aid their recovery.

Earlier in the day, the President had been in Takoradi to open the Minerals Commission’s Local Content Summit. Upon his return to Accra, he travelled directly from the airport to the hospital to personally check on the condition of the injured traders.

The two survivors were successfully evacuated and transported back to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to receive urgent medical care.

The President’s visit highlights government’s commitment to the welfare of Ghanaian citizens, particularly those affected by cross-border violence. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide support to the affected families during this difficult period.
