As discussions continue over the location of the proposed 24-hour market, the Metropolitan Chief Executive maintains that the project will proceed at Ekon, despite concerns raised by sections of the public.

Reacting to this, Mr. Ebenezer Domey, Coordinator at the MP’s Office for the Cape Coast North Constituency, urged the MCE to take into account the sentiments of residents, noting that many people within Cape Coast are unhappy with the decision.

Speaking in an interview with Sir Roy on TW Radio 88.9’s morning show, The Workshop, Mr. Domey emphasized the need for continued engagement and encouraged the MCE to be measured in his public communication.

According to him, while leadership comes with authority, it is equally important to be mindful of tone and choice of words, especially on matters of public interest. He pointed out that statements suggesting the decision is final and cannot be changed may not foster the needed unity and understanding.

Mr. Domey called on residents of Cape Coast to see the project as a development initiative intended for the collective good, rather than a divisive issue between different parts of the metropolis. He stressed that development should be viewed from a broader perspective, as it ultimately benefits everyone, regardless of location.

The proposed 24-hour market project continues to generate discussion within the Cape Coast Metropolis, with many calling for broader consultation and inclusive decision-making.
