Interior Minister commissions new vehicles for Ghana National Fire Service

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has received a operational boost following the commissioning of a fleet of utility vehicles by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at the Service’s National Headquarters in Accra.



The commissioning forms part of ongoing efforts by government to improve mobility, strengthen emergency response operations and enhance service delivery across the country.

NEW VEHICLES



The vehicles commissioned included two Toyota Hiace mini buses, four Nissan Navara pick-up vehicles, and one Toyota Camry saloon car procured by the government for the Service.

A Honda motorbike donated to the GNFS was also presented during the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the Interior Minister said the intervention is also aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the fire service




According to officials, the newly commissioned vehicles are expected to support officers in carrying out administrative duties, fire safety inspections, rescue missions and rapid emergency response activities.


Speaking at the event, the Interior Minister said the intervention is also aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the fire service as it continues to respond to increasing incidents of fire outbreaks, protect lives, property, and respond to other emergencies nationwide.


Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving logistics and the welfare of personnel within the service as part of broader efforts to build a more capable, efficient, and responsive emergency service.

The Ghana National Fire Service has in recent months intensified public education and emergency preparedness campaigns while seeking improved logistics and equipment to enhance its operations.
