The Police Training Academy in Accra on Tuesday hosted the graduation of a new batch of Community Police Assistants (CPAs), a milestone initiative aimed at enhancing security visibility in communities across Ghana.
The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare-Addo, who delivered the keynote address, urged the graduates to uphold good conduct, discipline, and commitment as they begin their service. He emphasized that their role is not only about maintaining law and order but also about helping build a safer society that will allow Ghana to realize its vision of a 24-hour economy.
“This initiative, together with other efforts across the service agencies, is vital to improving security in our neighborhoods. A safe society is the foundation for economic progress,” Hon. Opare-Addo said.
The Community Police Assistant programme is being spearheaded by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under the leadership of CEO Malik Basintale. Since July, the Ghana Police Service has been at the forefront of training the CPAs, equipping them with the necessary skills and discipline to serve effectively.
Hon. Opare-Addo commended the YEA management team for their dedication to youth empowerment and applauded the Ghana Police Service for their professionalism and commitment to the programme.
The graduation marks another step in government’s broader strategy to engage young people in nation-building while simultaneously strengthening law enforcement across the country.
With the CPAs officially deployed, communities can expect improved security presence, better collaboration between citizens and law enforcement, and renewed confidence in efforts to keep Ghana safe.
