Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, wife of the late Ghanaian music legend Daddy Lumba, has supported the provision of a mechanized borehole for Abor Methodist Basic School in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region through an initiative by the Team Legal Wives and Husbands group.
The facility was commissioned on Friday, October 16, 2026, with the official handing-over ceremony held on her behalf by members of the Team Legal Wives and Husbands group, which has publicly supported her through her ongoing appeal in court. Speaking at the ceremony, Miss Nadia, who represented the group, said their support for Mrs. Fosuh was motivated by empathy and a desire to stand up for women who go through similar challenges.
She said, as a woman and a mother, she would not want herself or her children to experience what Mrs. Fosuh had gone through. Miss Nadia explained that the group had taken it upon itself to provide boreholes to deprived communities without access to water as part of its efforts to support Mrs. Fosuh while contributing to community development.
She disclosed that the Abor project was the group’s seventh borehole. According to her, the group had already provided one borehole each in the Eastern, Greater Accra and Ashanti regions, as well as three in the Northern Region. She added that the group had established a foundation in Mrs. Fosuh’s name, with plans to undertake further initiatives, including building houses for her.
Miss Nadia also appealed to the Government of Ghana and the country’s judicial system to ensure that Mrs. Fosuh receives what she is legally entitled to. She said the group was committed to seeking justice for Mrs. Fosuh and would continue to stand by her throughout the legal process.
“We are pleading with the judges and the judiciary system in Ghana to have mercy on Mrs. Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, because she is not just a taker. She is a giver. She's giving to the community,” she said. The Queen Mother of Abor, Nana Araba Ahinfuwa III, thanked Mrs. Fosuh and her foundation for providing the school and the wider community with access to potable water.
She also called on Ghanaians to support Mrs. Fosuh as she pursues her appeal in court, adding that the entire Abor community stands behind her and her foundation in every step they take. The Regent of Abor, Nana Edumadze, in his welcome address, also called on individuals, organizations and the government to extend more support to Abor Methodist Basic School and the wider Abor community to help address their needs and promote development.
The borehole was officially commissioned through a tape-cutting ceremony, the unveiling of a plaque and the turning on of the tap to fetch the first water. Very Rev. Charles Evans Darkwah, the Local Manager, subsequently dedicated and blessed the facility. The ceremony also featured musical performances by the school choir, poetry recitals by Elsie Andoh Nyame and Jemilatu Bashiru, and a choreography performance by learners of the school. The mechanized borehole is expected to improve access to water for pupils and staff of Abor Methodist Basic School and contribute to a better learning environment.
