Breast cancer survivor Mr Abeiku Arthur has shared his 19-year journey with the disease, urging the public to seek medical attention whenever they notice unusual changes in their breasts.
Mr Arthur made this call in an interview with Sir Roy on The WorkShop on TW Radio 88.9 as part of the station’s Pink October activities to raise awareness of breast cancer. The survivor, who will soon turn 72, recounted his experience and revealed that he had both breasts removed as a precautionary measure.
“To be on the safer side, I had to let them remove both breasts. If I don't tell you, you will not know I'm without breasts,” he said. He encouraged people to visit the hospital when they notice strange signs in their breasts, adding that medical attention should go hand in hand with prayer.
Mr Arthur’s story also highlights the fact that breast cancer affects men, although it is more common among women. As part of its Pink October activities, TW Radio 88.9 continues to use its platform to educate listeners and raise awareness of breast cancer, encouraging people to take their health seriously and seek medical care when necessary.
Mr Arthur’s experience serves as a reminder that breast cancer is not exclusive to women and that men must also pay attention to changes in their breasts.
