A DAF truck transporting marble stones caught fire at Ayensudo, near Aroma International School, along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Road on Friday, August 7.
According to a post shared on Facebook by the Ghana National Fire Service, the truck was travelling from Takoradi to Cape Coast when the fire started. The incident was reported after a Customs Division patrol team alerted emergency responders.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene found the truck fully engulfed in flames. The blaze was brought under control after firefighting operations and was later completely extinguished.
Preliminary findings indicate that the fire started after one of the truck’s rear tyres burst.
The driver said he stopped the vehicle to inspect the damaged tyre but noticed flames shortly afterwards and called for assistance.
The fire damaged the vehicle but did not completely destroy it. No injuries or deaths were recorded.
