A new chapter begins for one of Oguaa's treasured cultural traditions
A new chapter has begun for the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Regatta, with TW Radio 88.9FM signing a five-year agreement to take responsibility for the planning, organisation, production and execution of the iconic cultural event.

The agreement, signed with the Oguaa Fetu Afahye Planning Committee, marks a significant step in efforts to reposition the Regatta as a major cultural, tourism and entertainment attraction while preserving its traditional identity.

For TW Radio, the responsibility goes beyond producing an annual boat race.

For TW Radio, the responsibility goes beyond producing an annual boat race.

It is about giving Oguaa's maritime heritage a bigger stage.
The Regatta is deeply connected to the history and identity of Oguaa and its relationship with the sea. The canoes, Asafocompanies, flags, music, competition and community gathering are all part of a living cultural tradition that deserves to be seen and experienced by a much wider audience.

The 2026 edition is expected to welcome traditional leaders, government officials, special guests, members of the diplomatic community

Under the five-year arrangement, TW Radio will lead the event's production and operational planning, while also developing its media profile, partnerships and commercial opportunities.
The vision is to create a professionally produced Regatta that remains authentically Oguaa  but is capable of attracting visitors from across Ghana and beyond.

The station also intends to use its radio and digital platforms to take the story of the Regatta beyond the waterfront, reaching the Ghanaian diaspora, tourists and international audiences.

The 2026 edition is expected to welcome traditional leaders, government officials, special guests, members of the diplomatic community, tourists, the diaspora and thousands of residents and visitors.

But perhaps the most important audience is the next generation.
The ambition is to make young people see the Regatta not simply as something inherited from the past, but as something that belongs to them and is worth carrying into the future.

As TW Radio takes the helm, the message is simple:
The tradition remains. The vision grows.
And this year, when the canoes take to the waters of Oguaa, a new five-year journey will begin.

OGUAA FETU AFAHYE REGATTA 2026
Culture. Competition. Community.
The water tells the story.
