TW Radio 88.9, in partnership with the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH), will once again lead community efforts to mark World Kidney Day 2026, continuing a collaboration that has already delivered meaningful health impact in the Central Region.

The partnership between TW Radio and CCTH began last year when both institutions joined forces to commemorate World Kidney Day with a free public health screening exercise at Chapel Square in Cape Coast, where over 800 people received free kidney and general health screening services. The initiative provided many residents with the opportunity to check their health status, receive medical advice, and learn about preventive health practices.

Building on the success of last year’s exercise, the 2026 celebration will take the campaign to the community of Moree, extending critical health awareness and screening services to more residents in the region.

This year’s global theme, “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet,” highlights the growing need to raise awareness about kidney disease while encouraging healthier lifestyles and early detection.

Activities marking the day will begin with a public awareness Float Procession on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, starting from Moree Health Center Junction at 8:00 AM. The float will move through surrounding communities, bringing together health professionals, volunteers, and community members to spread awareness about kidney disease prevention and healthy living.

The main community outreach will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, with a Free Medical Screening Exercise at the Moree Durbar Grounds (Old Court) beginning at 8:00 AM. Residents will have the opportunity to undergo health checks, consult medical professionals, and receive guidance on maintaining healthy kidneys.

For TW Radio, the initiative reflects the station’s ongoing commitment to using its platform not only to inform and entertain but also to drive community impact and support public health awareness. Through its partnership with Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, the station continues to help bridge the gap between medical institutions and the communities they serve.

As preparations for the 2026 celebration continue, organizations, institutions, businesses, and individuals are invited to support the initiative. Contributions and donations can be made in cash or in kind, including medical supplies, logistics support, refreshments, and other resources that will help ensure the success of the outreach program.

By supporting this initiative, partners and well-wishers will be contributing to a campaign that promotes early detection, health education, and access to essential health services for communities in the Central Region.
