The Chief Executive of the Gold Board (GOLDBOD), Sammy Gyamfi, has challenged the Minority in Parliament to stop what he describes as “all this talk and press conferences” and use the relevant Parliamentary committees to investigate the agency.
The Minority, led by Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has been pushing for a probe into GOLDBOD over a reported $1.7 billion loss in 2025 and has called for Mr Gyamfi to appear before Parliament for questioning.
Mr. Gyamfi said he was ready to answer questions from Parliament.
“Do I, Sammy Gyamfi, look like somebody who will be afraid of a Parliamentary probe?”
He said the Minority did not need a motion to initiate such an investigation because Parliament’s committee system already provides the mechanism.
“And the motion they've filed missed the issue. Look, Parliament works in committees, haven't you heard that phrase? You don't even need any motion because GOLDBOD is under the oversight of the committee on economy with Kojo Oppong Nkrumah as a ranking member. Not too long ago, they came to GOLDBOD to engage us and ask me questions. They can order me to produce documents,” he said.
