Parts of Accra flooded after heavy rains on Monday morning

Parts of the capital city of Ghana, Accra, were flooded following the heavy rains on Monday, June 29.
Affected areas include parts of the N1 Highway, Apenkwa towards Tesano, the Accra–Kasoa stretch, Weija, Mallam, Achimota, Spintex, Atomic in Madina, Kaneshie, Darkuman Junction.
Similarly, portions of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, and other surrounding communities, according to residents and road users.
Also, hundreds of residents in Afienya in the Greater Accra region were trapped in their homes.
Personnel from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Ghana National Fire Service had begun moving into the community to rescue affected residents.
The immediate past Assembly Member for the Afienya Electoral Area, Habib Awudu Mohammed, told journalists that "Luckily, we got in touch with the NADMO rescue team; some of them are here, the Fire Service are here in their numbers, and we are doing our best to see how best we can rescue the people," he noted.
