The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka, has urged employers to allow their staff to work from home today, 29th June, 2026.
He said this is due to the heavy rains.
"I urge all employers to let their staff who can work from home do so," he said on Accra-Based Joy FM on June 29.
"All Managers who have scheduled meetings should have it on Zoom," the Minister advised.
He explained that the rain will continue throughout the day, hence the need for all movements to cease.
"I just had a conversation with the Director of the Ghana Meteorological Agency. He told me that more rains are coming. He said there is a storm from Togo which will make things worse. So everybody should stay at home," he urged.
The Minister commended officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for their rescue efforts so far and urged them to continue.
"I commend NADMO and urge the other security agencies to help in the rescue efforts," Alhaji Muntaks said.
Parts of the capital city of Ghana, Accra, are flooded following the heavy rains.
