Mfantsipim School has once again proven its academic dominance by successfully defending its crown to win the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), claiming back-to-back glory and their fourth national title.

The grand finale, hosted at the University of Cape Coast’s NEC Auditorium, was dubbed the “Battle of the Giants”, as three of Ghana’s most celebrated schools — Mfantsipim School, St. Augustine’s College (AUGUSCO), and Opoku Ware School (OWASS) — faced off in a contest that tested intellect, teamwork, and precision.

From the first round, the atmosphere was electrifying. The defending champions, Mfantsipim, took an early lead with 20 points, while AUGUSCO and OWASS followed closely with 17 points each. AUGUSCO bounced back in the second round with sharp responses, finishing ahead with 27 points, but Mfantsipim’s resilience shone through in the Problem of the Day, where they reclaimed the lead with 30 points.

As the rounds progressed, the Botwe Boys tightened their grip, extending their advantage to 46 points by the fourth round. The final round was a tense battle of wits, but Mfantsipim maintained composure to finish strong with 56 points, sealing their championship victory. AUGUSCO came second with 42 points, while OWASS placed third with 29 points.

The NEC Auditorium erupted into cheers as red-and-white flags waved high and chants of “God is a MOBA!” echoed throughout the hall. It was a moment of pride and history for Mfantsipim — a display of excellence that cements their status as one of Ghana’s greatest academic institutions.

With this remarkable win, Mfantsipim School not only defended their 2024 title but also made history with four national NSMQ trophies, reaffirming their legacy as true giants in academic excellence.
