The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the arrest of a soldier captured in a viral video assaulting two civilians at a pharmacy at Burma Camp in Accra.

In a statement issued in Accra on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and signed by Captain (Ghana Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director of the Department of Public Relations, GAF said the suspect was apprehended by the Ghana Military Police at dawn.

The soldier, identified as Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Williams Mensah of the Ghana Air Force, is assisting with investigations into the incident, which took place earlier in the week inside a pharmacy within Burma Camp.

According to the statement, the victims, who sustained injuries during the assault, have received medical attention and are also cooperating with investigators. GAF condemned the act and said it would not tolerate any form of misconduct by its personnel. “The Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts of assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such,” the statement said.
