The Ministry of Finance has dismissed as “false and misleading” claims that Databank Group has been re-affirmed or endorsed as a Bond Market Specialist for the Government.
In a disclaimer issued in collaboration with the Bank of Ghana, the Ministry said circulating reports suggesting Databank holds Bond Market Specialist (BMS) status are inaccurate and should be disregarded. The Ministry clarified that an official and authoritative list of recognised Primary Dealers (PDs) and Bond Market Specialists was published on February 10, 2026 under Notice No. BOG/FMD/2026/08.
According to the Ministry, that notice remains the valid reference for all institutions authorised to operate within Ghana’s bond market framework. Authorities urged the public, investors and market participants to rely only on official communications from the Ministry of Finance and the central bank to avoid misinformation.
The official notice identifies only six (6) institutions as authorized Bond Market Specialists:
- ABSA Ghana Limited
- Stanbic Bank
- CalBank PLC
- GCB Bank
- One Africa Securities Ltd
- Fincap Securities
These six were selected from a broader pool of 15 Primary Dealers, which includes institutions such as Ecobank Ghana, Fidelity Bank, and Societe Generale.
