Fante Fest London 2026 Set to Celebrate Fante Heritage and Ghanaian Culture on Saturday, September 26, 2026

The maiden edition of FanteFest London 2026, dubbed The Ahobaa Kɛse Festival – UK Edition, is set to bring together members of the Ghanaian community, traditional leaders, cultural enthusiasts and friends of Ghana for a celebration of Fante heritage and Ghanaian culture.

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Gladesmore Community School, Ferndale Road, London, N15 6UX, with activities beginning at 2:00 p.m. Fante Fest is expected to provide a platform for showcasing Fante traditions and cultural expressions while creating an opportunity for members of the Ghanaian diaspora to connect with their heritage and strengthen community ties.

A major highlight of the event will be a Grand Durbar, which will bring traditional leadership and Fante cultural traditions to the centre of the celebration. The programme will also feature cultural displays, music and dance, live entertainment, Ghanaian cuisine, community networking and youth empowerment activities.

Among the distinguished guests expected at the event is H.E. Zita Sarbah Benson, Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Ghanaian highlife legend Bessa Simons is also expected to be part of the celebration, alongside other special guests and personalities.

The festival is being held under the distinguished patronage of HM Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Omanhen of Abedze State and Board Chairman of The Fante Project, and HM Odeefuo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Breman Asikuma Traditional Area.

Other dignitaries associated with the event include Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area; HM Emintsimadze Otu XI, Omanhen of the Abura Traditional Area; and Prof. Nana Ama Browne-Klutse, Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority. The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere, is also listed among the dignitaries for the celebration.

The festival was launched in Ghana on July 6, 2026, at the British Council in Accra, before receiving its London launch on August 7, 2026, at London City Hall. The launches brought together stakeholders to introduce the initiative and highlight its focus on Fante heritage, cultural preservation and diaspora engagement.

The organisers say the London festival is intended to provide a space where families, young people, community leaders and cultural practitioners can celebrate their shared heritage. The inclusion of youth empowerment and community networking activities is expected to give young people and members of the diaspora an opportunity to engage, build relationships and explore ways of sustaining their cultural identity.

For the wider Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom, the event will also provide an opportunity to experience Ghanaian music, food, traditional performances and cultural displays in one setting. Organisers are inviting people who identify with Fante and Ghanaian culture, as well as friends and lovers of African culture, to participate in the celebration.

With its combination of traditional leadership, cultural performances, entertainment, food and community activities, Fante Fest London 2026 is expected to provide an international platform for showcasing Fante heritage and strengthening connections among Ghanaians and their communities in the diaspora.
