Cape Coast Technical Institute Emerges Overall Champions at Central Region TVET Athletics Competition

Cape Coast Technical Institute emerged as the overall champions of the 2026 Central Region TVET Institutions Sports Association Inter-Schools Athletics Competition, held from Monday, February 9 to Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The two-day sporting event brought together TVET institutions from across the Central Region and served as a platform to showcase athletic excellence, teamwork, and sportsmanship among technical school students.

In the Girls’ Category, Cape Coast Technical Institute delivered a commanding performance, finishing top of the standings with 114 points. They were closely followed by Asuansi Technical Institute in second place, while Winneba Technical Institute secured third position after an impressive showing. Assin Foso Technical Institute and Biriwa Technical Institute also featured prominently, rounding out the leading schools in the female division.

The Boys’ Category further highlighted Cape Coast Technical Institute’s dominance, as the school once again emerged winners with a strong 127 points. Their athletes excelled across various track and field events, outperforming tough competition from Asuansi Technical Institute, Winneba Technical Institute, and Biriwa Technical Institute.

Other participating institutions, including Agona Swedru Technical Institute, Breman Asikuma Technical Institute, Afransi Technical Institute, Jakan Technical Institute, Gomoa Technical Institute, New Ebu Technical Institute, and Adaa Technical Institute, also made notable contributions to the success of the competition.

The Central Region TVET Institutions Sports Association commended the high level of discipline, competitive spirit, and organisation throughout the championship, describing the event as a major boost to sports development within Ghana’s TVET sector. The competition once again draw attention to the role of athletics in nurturing talent and promoting unity among students from diverse institutions.
