Ferrari Targets Aerodynamic Edge With SF-26 Front Wing Overhaul Ahead of Miami

Scuderia Ferrari has unveiled a significant upgrade package for its SF-26 challenger, with engineers focusing their development firepower on the front wing as the team prepares for the Miami Grand Prix.

The update centres on the outer sections of the wing, leaving the main nose structure untouched while introducing a redesigned endplate and a revised footplane, two components that play a critical role in how airflow behaves around the front of the car.

At the heart of the changes is an effort to increase the wing's outwash effect, a technique used to push turbulent air away from the front tyres and redirect cleaner, more organised airflow along the car's flanks. By managing tyre wake more effectively, Ferrari hopes to unlock broader gains in overall aerodynamic efficiency.

The new endplate carries a notably more aggressive curvature compared to its predecessor, supplemented by additional flow-directing elements designed to push air outward with greater intent. Alongside it, the reshaped footplane has been engineered to deliver smoother, more predictable airflow behaviour, reducing the aerodynamic unpredictability that has at times hampered the SF-26's performance window.

Ferrari has framed the Miami package as the opening move in a structured development programme, with the Maranello outfit signalling that more updates are in the pipeline as they look to reel in their rivals across the remainder of the season.
