Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik has passed away following a series of official meetings with local government ministers in Kumasi on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sedik, has died after attending a number of official meetings in Kumasi on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

He was among DCEs who met the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, at the Kumasi Kejetia Phase II project site on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The stakeholders’ meeting with Kumasi Central Market trader unions ended at about 5:00 p.m., after which Hon. Sedik and some other DCEs proceeded to the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council for another meeting with the minister later in the evening.

According to the account provided, Mr. Sedik was returning to his district after the meeting when he complained of severe pain in his heart. He subsequently died on Sunday evening, September 20, 2026.
