Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Ghana for 3-day State Visit

John Dramani Mahama has officially welcomed Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa to Ghana for a three-day State Visit from April 1 to April 3, 2026, in a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two African nations.
The Zimbabwean leader arrived in Accra to a ceremonial reception marked by full military honours, underscoring the importance Ghana places on its longstanding relationship with Zimbabwe.
The visit is expected to focus on deepening cooperation across key sectors, including trade, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, and sanitation. Both countries are also set to explore joint strategies to address pressing challenges such as corruption and unemployment, which continue to affect development across the continent.
As part of the itinerary, President Mahama and President Mnangagwa will hold a private tête-à-tête, followed by expanded bilateral talks involving their respective delegations. These discussions are expected to pave the way for the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing collaboration and fostering mutual growth. A State Banquet will also be held in honour of the visiting president, highlighting the cordial relations and shared history between the two nations.
The visit reflects a renewed commitment by both Ghana and Zimbabwe to strengthen their strategic partnership and promote sustainable development through regional cooperation. It also aligns with broader efforts among African nations to deepen intra-continental ties and drive economic transformation through unity and shared vision.
