PANAFEST & Emancipation 2025 National Planning Committee Inaugurated

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and the PANAFEST Foundation have officially inaugurated the National Planning Committee for PANAFEST and Emancipation 2025. This high-level stakeholder meeting took place on Tuesday 13th of May at the GTA head office in Accra. and brought together policy makers, private sector leaders, cultural advocates, and creatives to usher in preparations for the upcoming festival.
The inauguration signals the beginning of detailed planning for PANAFEST 2025, under the theme:
“Let Us Speak of Reparative Justice – Pan-African Artistic Activism.”
The festival is scheduled to run from 25th July to 2nd August 2025, with pre-festival activities beginning on 19th July.
Present at the ceremony were representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, and her deputy Mr. Abeiku Santana, alongside senior officials from the PANAFEST Foundation including the Board Chair Prof. Esi Sutherland-Addy and Rabbi Kohain Nathanyah Halevi, the Executive Director. Also in attendance were key stakeholders from the Ghana Hoteliers Association, academia, the creative arts industry, and cultural institutions.
The PANAFEST Foundation will now move to the Central Region to inaugurate the Local Organizing Committee in Cape Coast, which will spearhead on-ground coordination and community engagement in the historic region. This comprehensive outline is a call to action for all Pan-African citizens, creatives, and cultural institutions to unite under the shared vision of reparative justice, healing, and artistic resistance.
