Vice President Celebrates Excellence at President’s Independence Day Awards for School Children

The Vice President of Ghana, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, today joined dignitaries, educators, and students at the President’s Independence Day Awards for School Children, an event that celebrates academic excellence and outstanding character among young learners across the country.


Held under the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” the ceremony recognised 52 brilliant students selected from all 16 regions of Ghana. The awardees represented both public and private schools and included students with visual and hearing impairments, reflecting the nation’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education.


The awards honour students who have demonstrated remarkable academic performance, discipline, and perseverance in their studies. Their achievements highlight the potential of Ghana’s young people and the importance of nurturing talent across all communities.


In her address, the Vice President congratulated the award recipients and commended their dedication to learning. She noted that education remains a powerful tool for national transformation and urged the students to remain focused on their ambitions while maintaining strong moral values.


According to her, the development and prosperity of Ghana depend not only on policies and infrastructure but also on citizens who exhibit integrity, responsibility, and leadership. She further encouraged the students to use the recognition as motivation to pursue greater heights while inspiring their peers and contributing positively to society.
