Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has issued a passionate call for unity and belief as the Black Stars prepare for their fifth appearance on football's biggest stage.
Speaking at the team's official send-off ceremony ahead of the tournament, Okraku challenged Ghanaians to rally behind the national team and embrace the possibility of achieving something special. His message was one of ambition, confidence and unwavering support for a squad determined to restore Ghana's place among the world's football elite.
The Black Stars head into the competition seeking to end a frustrating run that has seen them fail to progress beyond the group stage since their historic quarter-final appearance in 2010. That campaign remains Ghana's best-ever World Cup performance and one of the most memorable achievements in African football history.
However, Okraku believes the current generation has an opportunity to create a new chapter of success.
Addressing players, officials and supporters, the GFA President delivered a simple but powerful message.
“In this fifth time, we say the time is now.”
The statement reflects the growing belief within Ghanaian football that the nation can once again compete with the world's best. Okraku has made no secret of his lofty ambitions, openly declaring that he is doing everything within his power to see the Black Stars lift the ultimate prize and bring the trophy home to Accra.
While such a target may appear ambitious, Ghana's immediate focus will be navigating a difficult group featuring England, Croatia and Panama. The Black Stars are expected to take the tournament one match at a time, with progression beyond the group stage viewed as the first major objective.
Under the guidance of experienced coach Carlos Queiroz, Ghana will hope to combine discipline, talent and determination to overcome the challenges ahead.
The benchmark for African nations was raised by Morocco's remarkable run to the semi-finals at the previous World Cup, proving that teams from the continent can compete deep into the tournament.
As Ghana prepares for another shot at glory, Okraku's message has set the tone: this is not simply about participation. It is about belief, ambition and seizing a moment that could define a generation of Ghanaian footballers.
