Samuel Boadu faces GFA sanctions after provocative gestures towards Kotoko supporters

Aduana FC head coach Samuel Boadu could face sanctions from the Ghana Football Association after  making provocative and offensive gestures towards Asante Kotoko supporters following his side’s impressive 2-0 victory at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The former Hearts of Oak and Medeama coach appeared to gesture towards the Kotoko supporters in a manner interpreted as telling them to “shut up” after Aduana FC secured a memorable 2-0 victory over the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

Boadu, known for his animated and emotional touchline demeanour, appeared to be caught up in the celebrations as Aduana completed a memorable away triumph in Kumasi. However, his reaction could now attract the attention of the GFA, particularly if the incident is captured in the official match reports or reviewed by the association’s disciplinary authorities.

The gestures have sparked criticism, with questions being raised over whether the Aduana trainer crossed the line between passionate celebration and conduct considered disrespectful or provocative towards opposition supporters. The incident came in the aftermath of a highly charged encounter, with the Kotoko faithful making their displeasure known after  the game through boos and jeers directed at the coach.

The potential disciplinary controversy threatens to overshadow what was otherwise a landmark result for Aduana FC. The Fire Club stunned Kotoko with a disciplined and clinical performance to secure their first victory over the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi since 2021. Stephen Amankona broke the deadlock after capitalising on a costly mistake by Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, punishing the hosts for the defensive lapse and giving Aduana a crucial lead.

The visitors then struck again on the counter-attack, with Seidu Saana finishing off a swift transition to double Aduana’s advantage and put the result beyond Kotoko’s reach. The defeat ended Kotoko’s unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, while Aduana walked away from the Baba Yara Stadium with one of their most significant results of the campaign so far. But amid the celebrations, attention has shifted to Boadu and his post-match reaction.
