A pre-dawn intelligence-led operation by the Ghana Police Service has resulted in the arrest of 20 suspected drug peddlers in parts of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.
The exercise, conducted at about 6:10 a.m. on February 21, 2026, was led by the Ashaiman District Police Commander, Superintendent Orlando Joseph Adzokpa.
He was supported by ASP Ibrahim Bukari, 23 police officers and 10 Community Police Assistants drawn from the District Command.
Acting on credible intelligence, the team identified hotspots believed to be centres of drug-related activities, including Fitter-Line, Valco Flats (Spider Toilet area), New Town Junction, MTN Park and Jericho.
The suspects, aged between 18 and 37, were apprehended during the coordinated swoop.
Police say the operation forms part of renewed efforts to combat the sale and distribution of illicit drugs and address other criminal activities that have raised concerns among residents.
A search conducted during the exercise led to the retrieval of nine motorbikes, boxes of machetes, pairs of scissors, lighters, packets of cigarettes and small quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to police sources, all suspects will undergo screening and profiling.
Those found culpable will be put before the court, while others may be granted bail pending further investigations.
