Interior Minister begins Volta Regional tour to strengthen peace and security collaboration

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commenced a stakeholder engagement tour of the Volta Region aimed at strengthening peace, security, and social cohesion across the region.

The high-level tour began with a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in Ho.

During the meeting, the Interior Minister stressed that national peace and security remain a shared responsibility that requires constant engagement, cooperation, and dialogue among all stakeholders.

According to him, sustainable national development can only thrive in an environment of peace and stability, adding that communities must continually be reminded of the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence.

“Security is built on trust, dialogue, and unity, and it is important to engage continuously to ensure every community understands that peace is the foundation of progress,” he stated.

Mr. Gunu welcomed the Minister to the region and commended him for efforts toward the establishment of the National Signals Bureau in Ho.

He assured the Interior Minister of the Volta Regional Coordinating Council’s readiness to collaborate closely with the Ministry for the Interior to enhance peace and security in the region.

As part of the tour, the Interior Minister is expected to meet Christian and Muslim leaders as well as Zongo Chiefs to discuss issues relating to social cohesion and emerging security concerns.

He will also hold engagements with agencies under the Ministry for the Interior to assess their operations and strengthen inter-agency coordination.

In addition, the Minister is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration with traditional authorities.

The tour will further take him to the Ho Central Prison for interactions with inmates and prison officials, as well as to the Aflao border post where he is expected to inspect operations and encourage security personnel working at one of Ghana’s busiest border entry points.
