The Government of Ghana has cautioned Ghanaians to be extra vigilant and avoid becoming victims of human trafficking schemes.
This caution comes after the twenty-eight Ghanaian nationals, predominantly youth, who were victims of a sophisticated human trafficking network were rescued and repatriated to Ghana from Côte d’Ivoire, on Sunday, 10th May, 2026.
They were rescued after a successful operation conducted by security operatives and officials of the Embassy of Ghana in Abidjan, a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy said.
The statement further said that the rescued human trafficking victims are safely in Ghana and are currently assisting with further investigations.
The Government of Ghana conveyed its commendations to Ivorian authorities for the effective collaboration and shared intelligence.
"Ghanaians are hereby advised to be extra vigilant and avoid becoming victims to such trafficking schemes," the statement said.
