Government is committed to strengthening operational capacity of the Fire Service - Interior Minister

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has said that the government is committed to strengthening the operational capacity of the Fire Service in its mandate to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.
He said this after he commissioned utility vehicles for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) aimed at strengthening mobility, improving emergency response, and enhancing the Service’s operational efficiency across the country on Monday May 18.
The commissioned logistics included two Toyota Hiace mini buses, four Nissan Navara pick-ups, one Toyota Camry saloon vehicle, procured by Government for the Service, and a and a Honda motorbike, which was donated to the GNFS.
The Minister said “These vehicles being commissioned today will support operational duties, improve mobility, and enhance emergency response capabilities of the Service."
Muntaka reaffirmed Government’s commitment to improving logistics and welfare within the Service as part of broader efforts to build a capable and responsive emergency service. He further revealed that processes are far advanced for the procurement of 100 fire engines and other rescue equipment to support fire operations nationwide.
He also commended the leadership and personnel of the Service for their dedication and sacrifice, urging them to ensure the vehicles are properly maintained and used for their intended purpose to benefit the people of Ghana.
In her remarks, the Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong, expressed gratitude to Government for the continuous support and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to efficiency, professionalism, and the responsible use and maintenance of the vehicles.
