The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has clarified that the Board does not trade in foreign currency but sells foreign exchange generated through its statutory functions to the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

Appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, he described GoldBod as a major foreign exchange earner and said it was on course to meet or exceed its 2026 gold purchase and export targets, while aiming to surpass its US$10.8 billion foreign exchange generation target.

Meanwhile, the Committee directed the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) to follow the required procurement procedures when awarding contracts and urged the Ministry of Health to ensure proper oversight. It also instructed Takoradi Hospital to reinstate dental surgeon Dr Esenam Mockshell Sunu, pay her outstanding entitlements and post her to a location suitable for her circumstances.

The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Adam Mutawakil, disclosed that about 50 per cent of commercial customers and 150,000 residential customers were not being billed. He said steps were being taken to address the gaps and appealed for the company’s US$250 million legacy debt to be converted into equity to support expansion.

EXIM Bank Managing Director Sylvester Mensah also raised concerns over the dismissal of some staff without explanation. The Committee also commended National Home Ownership Fund, Chief Executive Officer Executive Prosper Hoetu and his team and also encouraged them to strengthen advertisement to raise public awareness of the Fund’s work.
