The Ghana Boundary Commission (GhBC) has begun a major field inspection and construction exercise along the Ghana–Côte d’Ivoire border, reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to maintaining peaceful coexistence, clear territorial boundaries, and long-term regional stability

The exercise aims to assess progress on the erection of international boundary pillars, evaluate designated locations for upcoming installations, and engage border communities to foster local support and cooperation

According to officials, this initiative is a preventive measure against potential boundary-related disputes, ensuring lasting peace and mutual understanding between Ghana and its western neighbor.

The ongoing inspection forms part of Stage One of Phase One of the Ghana–Côte d’Ivoire Boundary Reaffirmation Exercise, a landmark project expected to be completed by March 31, 2026

In a statement, the Commission  operating under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources — emphasized that continuous stakeholder engagement and meticulous field verification are key to guaranteeing both the accuracy and success of the boundary reaffirmation process.

The Ghana Boundary Commission reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Ivorian counterparts, local authorities, and international partners to uphold Ghana’s territorial integrity while promoting cross-border cooperation and regional harmony
